This work embraces the constant exchange between my objective for the clay and clay's intrinsic ability to succumb to natural forces. Time, temperature, humidity, gravity, etc. inform each piece with unprompted movement, sometimes an anthropomorphic gesture. Relying on this collaboration creates an opportunity to embrace the process and revel in the unplanned. Forms emerge spontaneously, and an odd bulge or strange posture allows me to resist my usual desire for perfection and control.
